Kirchheim (pm). There was enormous interest when Wanzl extended invitations to its Training Centre Open Day this October. For an entire Saturday morning, the focus was on apprenticeships: precision mechanics, machine and plant operators, electronics engineers for industrial engineering and, most recently, specialists in warehouse logistics/warehouse specialists. Together with their parents, school pupils got a taste of everyday working life at Wanzl, asked questions and received competent answers for the future.
The "Training Centre Open Day" was presented by Wanzl apprentices and supported by trainers Rudolf Pelikan, Josef Mayr, Manfred Leinsle and Manfred Binder. Together, they presented the career opportunities and developments at Wanzl. Practical training was given on machine operation, welding and milling as well as electronic work. A corporate video provided background information.
“In the final examinations of the Chamber of Trade and Crafts for Swabia, our trainees achieve top results every year and are among the best in the chamber," explained training manager Rudolf Pelikan. Erich Grenzstein provided further information on the application process and the training at the Agentur für Arbeit Kempten-Memmingen’s stand. From here they proceeded to the highly popular project stations: Wanzl's trainees engraved the names of visitors on bottle openers on high-tech CNC machines as a practical souvenir to take home. At the ticket machine food and drink vouchers were available for visitors to print out themselves, so that they could fortify themselves with food and drinks during the event. Pius Waldmann, Production Manager at the Wanzl plant in Kirchheim, drew a positive conclusion: “Our concept of allowing young people to advise young people encouraged questions and meant that visitors' first experience was with people their own age. New registrations for internships were already received on the trainee day."
