New fruit and vegetable presentation fittings from Wanzl

One system – four advantages: Vitable

The new Vitable from Wanzl offers four clear advantages for grocery retailers: more sales stimuli, greater individuality, better hygiene and significantly lower costs.

The new fruit and vegetable presentation system from Wanzl can transform like a chameleon: with front and side sections in different wood finishes, sheet metal processed in various ways or completely exposed. With convertible or seasonal emotive imagery on the front and on the structure, or completely exposed. With wooden cross struts as the supporting surface, with metal panels or interlocking trays. With or without a superstructure – whichever you choose, no two Vitable presentation units need look alike.

Such marked individuality is normally reflected in the acquisition and maintenance costs. Not with Vitable from Wanzl. Thanks to the carefully designed modular construction, the purchase price sets the benchmark. At the same time, Vitable is a true Wanzl system – in terms of both quality and suitability for everyday use. Wanzl plans to develop a whole catalogue of modular attachments and extensions, from tasting tables to bag dispensers and secondary placement units. "Vinegar, oil, seasoning blends and spiced salts are simply part of salads," explains Product Manager Tobias Hoser. "The freshness aspect is of course a key argument, but no customer dreams of fresh lettuce. The emotional appeal comes from the pleasure of ready-to-eat salads," says Mr Hoser. This is precisely where the new Vitable helps grocery retailers. Superstructures and attachments make it extremely easy to form categories – even in the fruit & vegetables section – therefore creating far more sales stimuli. Vitable therefore helps the retail industry to achieve one of its most important goals: to increase average transaction values.

Just as importantly, Vitable not only reduces the capital commitment for acquisition to new levels, it also saves on operating costs. This is due to small but ingenious details. The crate stopper, for example, ensures that the upper IFCO crates do not slide forward if crates below are removed. This reduces the time spent on filling and maintaining the presentation unit. Vitable is also designed without any beading, edges or spaces where, in other presentation systems, compost from the fresh produce often collects. With Vitable, wiping out is quick and simple without any assembly work or built-in hazards for finger nails, as with some other systems.

All in all, Vitable impresses with its hygiene aspects. When the tray liner is used, all the fruit and vegetable residue is retained in the tray, which can be cleaned with a single wipe. Without the tray liner, all the residue collects under the unit. If the retailer chooses an enclosed body, this is fitted with a hygiene flap. This turns cleaning into child's play: just open the flap and wipe. Cleaning is also aided by the fact that gravity draws any juices and pulp to the front edge where they can flow out under the Vitable unit. With the hygiene flap open, most cleaning machines are able to reach this exact area – another time-saving detail.
