The turnstile models come in two basic versions: motor-driven and electro-mechanical. In the motor-driven models like the EasyGo turnstile, entry is achieved by pushing the arms out of the way manually. The release mechanism is triggered via a card reader, a coin operation device, a control panel, a ticketing system or another method in accordance with individual requirements. In the Portec electro-mechanical variant, there is no contact with the turnstile arms. Instead, these move automatically when entry has been approved. A highly modern LC display can be used to program various settings for individual and group entry and for counting the number of people passing through.
No need to panic with state-of-the-art turnstiles
Panic is always a possibility in an emergency wherever large crowds of people come together. This is one of the factors that Wanzl considered when developing its turnstiles. With the so-called anti-panic feature on the Portec model, the arms can be folded down with a single action so that the passageway remains permanently open.
Another practical additional service for users is a visual signal mounted on the turnstiles, which indicates when the arms have been released and people can walk through. This ensures customers won’t miss the release or try to walk through the turnstiles before the release is triggered.
