For the English food product market Booths, quality is what counts. Which is why a few years ago a jury of experts ranked the food retailer as the second best in the world. In the equipment of its new market in the exclusive Media City UK at the former port of Manchester, Booths has once again made a clear decision in favour of top-quality product displays, self-service sector and cross-selling solutions by choosing products from Wanzl.
Booths opted for a combination of the elegant wire tech and wire tech 100 shelving and a variety of different Wanzl shopping trolley models.
Credit for the successful cross-selling project goes to David Poole, the Wanzl account manager responsible for Booths, who entered into the decisive negotiations with the exclusive store in 2011. At that time, Wanzl was already supplying Booths with the latest shopping trolleys and the Pick-up model with its two environmentally friendly baskets, including to one of the outlets in Preston.
"At Media City UK, we had the opportunity to offer a wide range of solutions that includes almost our entire range of wire tech shelving and displays," said David Poole.
"This project was incredibly important for us because the new outlet is located at the heart of a showcase project for urban redevelopment. The BBC also has its own production site here." For perfect self-service, Wanzl supplied 100 shopping trolleys with 100 litre baskets, 500 GT26eco shopping baskets and 30 Pick-up trolleys in addition to a selection of service shopping trolleys for families. "When working with the shopfitters, we were able to conclude the first significant order for 115 units of the new wire tech 100 system," reported account manager David Poole. Booths also placed an order for 29 wire tech shelves with a classic, straight line design for the general food and product area. A further ten stylishly curved product displays give the fresh baked goods on the ground floor of the new market a distinctly modern look. Additionally, Wanzl supplied tailor-made basket work and steel displays as well as high chrome shelves along the window front.
Wanzl UK group managing director Dean Rolland personally congratulated manager David Poole on his great success.
"The new store in Media City offers a great platform to show off the variety, innovation and quality of Wanzl products. We are certain that there will be a close partnership between Booths and Wanzl in the equipment of Booths stores in the future," emphasised Dean Rolland. The focus here is primarily on the products for the self-service sector and the wire tech shop solutions system, including special solutions for the bakery and fresh produce section. "Our long-standing success with Booths and our ability to satisfy many of Booths' special requirements for the shop solutions will pave the way for further cross-selling opportunities."
