The innovative concept of the Würth branch in Vöhringen is proof of Wanzl's overall service expertise. Even before entering the store, a large red plaque with "24" on the façade announces that something special is waiting for customers inside: as a hybrid store combining brick-and-mortar retail and e-commerce, Würth 24 is a project at the cutting edge of technology. Here, customers can shop 24 hours a day, six days a week.
In day-to-day operations, customers enter the store and shop as usual. After 5 p.m., shoppers enter by means of a QR code using the Würth app. After scanning a QR code on an external facility, the customer enters the entrance area. A second authentication is carried out at the turnstile of the Galaxy Gate access control system.
The key to the smooth functioning of this unique shop format is the checkout area – MADE BY WANZL. It is divided into an information desk for personal service and the self-checkout area, where payment is made autonomously. The checkout area skilfully combines innovative technology with elegant design – one of Wanzl's core competencies. In discreet grey with red accents, it is adapted to Würth's corporate design. Once payment has been completed, a delivery note is printed and the invoice is automatically delivered a few days later.
The customer obtains access to the checkout area after a second authentication via the Würth app. Information columns provide intuitive customer guidance. At the self-checkout, the customer places the goods on the checkout conveyor belt as usual. They are then automatically scanned in a scanning tunnel. A linear and clear design also facilitate a smooth self-checkout process from a visual point of view. Intricately designed glass room dividers secure the checkout zone while preserving the feeling of openness. After the scanning tunnel has deactivated the security system, another Galaxy Gate allows the customer to exit the shop – retail trade thus remains viable for the future.
