Wanzl: change with continuity

Gottfried Wanzl's transfer to the Supervisory Board

Leipheim (pm). At the beginning of 2015, Gottfried Wanzl (60), managing partner of the Wanzl Group, took his place on the Supervisory Board of the internationally active family company. As Chairman of the Supervisory Board, he will supervise Wanzl's future development and will carry on the work of his father and founder of the company, Rudolf Wanzl. Wanzl, which was founded over 65 years ago, is a pioneer in self-service systems and a trend-setter in the global retail sector.

The transfer from the Management Board to the Supervisory Board is a decision Gottfried Wanzl took looking to the future. This should therefore guarantee a planned and ordered company succession in both the Supervisory Board and the Management Board. One of the most important challenges is to bring the continuity of the past into the future and to safeguard and further develop our achievements. For Gottfried Wanzl, keeping the Wanzl Group as a family company is an essential core task for the future. Wanzl has approximately 4,500 co-workers, of which around 2,400 are in Germany, and maintains 11 production sites, 21 sales outlets and numerous agencies.
Around the world, Wanzl represents the highest quality, an outstanding price/performance ratio, the development of a global presence and profitable growth. The business areas of the global market leader for shopping trolleys and luggage transport trolleys include Retail Systems, Shop Solutions, Logistics + Industry, Airport + Security Solutions and Hotel Service. For over three decades, Gottfried Wanzl has contributed significantly to the healthy growth and to the innovative ideas of the third-generation-managed family company.

In January 2015, Dr Klaus Meier-Kortwig (45) succeeded  Gottfried Wanzl. Since May 2014, he has been responsible for the company development portfolio on the Management Board. As Chairman of the Management Board, he will now further develop the successful company strategy together with the other members of the Wanzl Management Board: Frank Derks (Finance), Harald P. Dörenbach (Engineering) and Bernhard Renzhofer (Sales).
Dr Klaus Meier-Kortwig studied engineering at RWTH Aachen University and completed his doctorate in business management at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. Then followed many years at BMW, working in consultancy at McKinsey and in the automotive industry at Behr in Stuttgart.
