Wanzl 2015: an optimistic outlook

International bulk orders

Leipheim (pm). At the end of 2014, Wanzl invited 167 co-workers from the Leipheim and Kirchheim plants and their partners to an exciting evening at the Landgasthof Waldvogel country hotel in Leipheim. The occasion was in honour of 40, 25 and 10 years of service at Wanzl. We said farewell to the employees soon to be embarking on their retirement. The musical entertainment for the evening was provided by Leipheim's city band, the Stadtkapelle Leipheim, conducted by Lisa Mayer, along with the Günzburg gospel choir and soloist Berenike Beitzel.

The managing partner of the Wanzl Group, Gottfried Wanzl, greeted the retirees and those celebrating their anniversaries, the outstandingly successful 2014 trainees, the Works Council and the management personnel. He reviewed the year with an interesting look back at its highlights. Wanzl started off with a few large-scale projects and a high number of orders. The new BakeOff sales systems for fresh baked goods got off to a flying start in German retail trade. "Orders for over 17,000 luggage transport trolleys from London Heathrow and Toronto Pearson airports also contributed to the positive company figures.” The Logistics and Industry business area was just as successful: Deutsche Post (DHL) chose Wanzl as supplier for 10,000 mobile containers, ensuring that parcels were delivered to the purchaser on time. A further bulk order for stock and commissioning came from the British trading cooperative the Co-operative Group. With its order picking trolleys Wanzl supports brick-and-mortar sales as well as online business, an important source of growth for the future.

Wanzl the champion

Gottfried Wanzl looked back at Euroshop 2014, which took place in Düsseldorf in February. The business of tomorrow is done today at this leading trade fair for international retailing. "Wanzl introduced itself as champion in its field, appropriately for the football World Cup in Brazil.” Wanzl was on the ball: 3,000 luggage transport trolleys were delivered in good time to São Paulo airport before the football World Cup kicked off in mid-June. The successful first half of the year was followed by a busy autumn, which Wanzl handled by consistently meeting deadlines and ensuring short delivery times. The international Wanzl Group ended 2014 with a 10% growth in turnover compared to the previous year. It was a particularly good year for the German sites.” Wanzl looks forward to 2015 with optimism – “A moderate increase in turnover is planned." Gottfried Wanzl warmly thanked the co-workers for their commitment, effort and many years of loyalty. "Without you our economic success and job security would not have been possible.” The Chairman of the General Works Council Jürgen Bayer echoed the gratitude of the managing partner. On behalf of the Works Council, he honoured and acknowledged the many years of "flexibility, effort and readiness to learn" of those celebrating their anniversaries.
