Two members of the Bundestag were guests at Wanzl in Leipheim this Friday to get a comprehensive picture of what the training is like in practice: Katrin Albsteiger (MdB), CSU and Ekin Deligöz (MdB), Alliance 90/the GREEN PARTY, used this opportunity to enter into dialogue with Wanzl trainees in their constituency. The reason for the visit was the currently planned amendment of the Vocational Training Act, which, among other things, calls for the legal guarantee of a training place.
Sebastian Wiesheu, spokesman for the Wanzl company's youth and trainee representation, was pleased about the politicians' visit and that the issues he raised were heard. "We were able to communicate what is important to us as young people."Ekin Deligöz welcomed the fact that young people were seeking dialogue with politicians: "Vocational training is very important. We must involve young people in shaping this topic."
Medium-sized businesses invest in young talent
During one of the tours, Dr Klaus Meier-Kortwig, Chairman of the Wanzl Management Board, presented his company’s training offering. Wanzl currently trains around 100 apprentices and dual study programme students in various occupations. Katrin Albsteiger was pleasantly surprised by the opportunities Wanzl offers trainees: “I am impressed by the commitment and funding that Wanzl puts into the training. Wanzl is a good example as to how important German medium-sized businesses are for the economy in our country."
The discussion of the Vocational Training Act that both politicians started at Wanzl was continued directly afterwards in a wider forum with trainees from various companies from the region at the country hotel Landgasthof Waldvogel in Leipheim.
