Chemist

Accentuated colours and striking design elements replace a neutral, one-size-fits-all design. Wanzl’s design concept for retail cosmetics departments is based on the target group's way of life. "We looked at the way young men and women think, and implemented our ideas accordingly. That's why we deliberately steered away from the typical wellness colours or photos of aloe vera plants," Bernd Kast, Planning Manager and Head of Design at Wanzl explained the approach. In the girls' section, teenage party elements such as mirror balls, neon signs and large-format graphics and photos of idols from the music and show business abound. Contrasts, light vs. dark, matt vs. high gloss, put product presentation in the limelight and trendy pink sets bold accents.

The men’s department, in contrast, seems toned down. Here, muted colours reign and spotlights highlight the products as the main attractions. The shelving systems, made of dark steel and mottled surfaces, also recede into the background. Bernd Kast: "We chose a darker design in the men’s section. The goal was to create a manly ambience. Shoppers should not feel that it is feminine or soft for a man to buy a face cream."

Pet shop

"Our concept focuses on a complete overhaul of how we shop for pets. With our overall design, we impart to consumers the feeling of shopping in a specialist store that values animals and the products available for them," says Bernd Kast. Together with his team, he has chosen to do this with a Scandinavian design. The light, white-varnished wood of the shelving systems harmonise with the warm colours of the plasterwork walls. Black and white graphic elements discreetly draw customers' attention to the product range and wooden lampshades, tree decoration elements and line art animal motifs on the walls convey a natural ambience. Lighting technology that picks out details adds to the 'wow effect'. 

Bernd Kast: "Today’s lighting technology lends itself wonderfully to planning. The variables of luminous intensity, light colour and light beams enable us to present materials and products in the best possible way.” A particularly special feature is the pet food dispenser for rodents. In line with the motto "Every animal is unique", pet owners can put together their very own food mix themselves, All they have to do is fill the paper bags as required and then weigh, label and pay for them. Thanks to the modular structure of the pet shop concept, it can be adapted to almost any customer-specific situation. This offers pet lovers a unique shopping world.

Beverage store

Warehouse atmospheres are a thing of the past – today, exciting sales concepts and high-quality shop fittings dominate in the beverage store sector. A carefully chosen, exquisite assortment, regional specialities, a high level of product expertise and events set the stage. Well thought-out shop fitting designs provide the ideal ambience for this. Steel, decorative finishes and lighting concepts, instead of mere illumination, raise the beverage shopping experience to a new level.
