If you want to shape the future, you need to respect the past

Wanzl honours long-standing employees and says goodbye to those going into their well-earned retirement

It is part of Wanzl’s beautiful tradition of honouring employees and retirees for their loyalty to the family-run business. On Friday, 29 November, guests at this year’s anniversary celebrations enjoyed an entertaining evening at the Landgasthof Waldvogel, a local guest house in Leipheim. A total of 114 employees celebrated their 10th, 25th or 40th anniversary and another 41 employees retired. The Management Board, Supervisory Board and shareholders took the time to personally express their appreciation and gratitude.

In keeping with the motto “If you want to shape the future, you need to respect the past,” said Oliver Weirauch, Chairman of the Wanzl Group Management Board, opening the celebrations. In his speech, he noted that he was impressed by the high levels of loyalty: “Employees at Wanzl stand by the company – just as we stand by you. You have all contributed to the positive developments over recent decades and overcome some challenging situations. We will also need your commitment and knowledge in the coming years so that we can achieve the necessary further developments successfully.” In his subsequent welcome address, Professor Peter Ruhwedel, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Wanzl Group said: “On behalf of the owner family and the entire Supervisory Board, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your loyalty and commitment. You haven't just done a job. You have helped to shape and influence our company.” Each of the honourees received a certificate and gifts in recognition. On behalf of the Works Council, Martin Wegele, Deputy Chairman of the General Works Council, thanked those celebrating their work anniversaries: “It doesn't always go without saying that people will stay with the same company for all or most of their working lives.” He hopes that the company's management team will continue to create conditions for long-lasting employment relationships like these by offering attractive places to work. After all, behind every corporate success lies a strong workforce paired with underlying trust and a good working environment. Gottfried Wanzl, Member of the Supervisory Board and Chair of the Shareholders’ Meeting, also had some praise to share: “Thanks to the incredible commitment and amazing team spirit of our employees, we at Wanzl can also look forward to next year with quite some confidence.” Oliver Weirauch summed up the celebrations: “We had a wonderful evening with some delicious food and many unforgettable moments. We wish all those celebrating a work anniversary all the best for the years to come at Wanzl, both personally and professionally, and wish all of those leaving us a wonderful retirement.
