Is shopping around the clock only possible online? Wanzl's unequivocal answer: not at all! With its unique 24h store concept, the innovation leader fulfils a long-held dream of brick-and-mortar retail dealers. Design conception, hardware, software – as a holistic systems provider, Wanzl is responsible for all the processes involved in the development and implementation of a 24h shop. Wanzl will be demonstrating what such a shop could look like at the EuroCis 2019 trade fair at Stand B 04 in Hall 10 using a chemist's as an example. This shop format can be reproduced economically and technically, and can also be implemented across all industries.
Automated check-in
Thanks to the fully automatic access control Galaxy Gate from Wanzl, the shopping experience starts smoothly. Entry is effected by scanning a QR code in the operator app or via the barcode on a customer card. If required, an information post explains the access process. The system automatically records the customer number. If everything is correct, the software-monitored safety-glass swivel arms open immediately. Individual and tandem gates with barrier-free access for wheelchair users and pushchairs are part of the series range. The Galaxy Gate design, which won the German Design Award 2016, guarantees a stylish reception. Individual adaptation to the corporate design is possible at any time.
Customer-specific shopfitting
The perfect design concept for every location and for every area - individuality and the best possible comfort for the buyer are, after all, essential for the retail dealer's competitiveness. The location is analysed in detail for this purpose by Wanzl’s architects and customers’ goals and ideas are identified. Based on this, the areas are planned, the most suitable materials are chosen, the required product ranges are agreed and the actual structure of the store is planned. As a provider of complete system solutions, Wanzl has a wide product range of store-specific solutions that present the goods perfectly.
Self-scanning tunnel and self-checkout
Once the shopping is done, it's on to the checkout area. The Galaxy Port then opens automatically and the way to the Wanzl checkout counter with self-scanning tunnel is clear. Straightforward and with a functional design, it guides the customer through its intelligent structure to the desired scan sequence. Customers can access information about the innovative process at their leisure, using an info tower. All articles are placed on the checkout conveyor and digitally recorded. The scanning process starts after the customer has been identified by the app. The item's security system is deactivated during the scan. Before leaving, the customer chooses their preferred payment method, such as EC or credit card, PayPal or mobile payment and pays the invoice. If a customer leaves the store without paying, an alarm is triggered. The new Wanzl self-checkout also effectively prevents manipulation and fraud. A scale integrated in the bag holder checks whether the scanned goods match the packed goods. As an alternative to the self-scanning tunnel, customers can scan their purchased goods themselves. A large touchscreen provides an optimal overview of the scanned goods and guides the user through the subsequent payment process.
