The Sinus is rolling at Meetall

German shopping trolleys for China

Small, slim and nimble, along with an extraordinary design for ranges of high-quality goods. These are the chic features of the Sinus model of shopping trolley from Wanzl. Meetall, the largest retailer in the province of Shanxi in north-western China, selected the compact trolley in an innovative, curved design for its premium stores. Here, the Sinus rolls as a nimble, trendy ambassador and figurehead for customers of Meetall's discerning business line.

"The total of 200 trolleys are accepted very positively by our customers. Sinus makes the shopping experience comfortable and convenient," confirms Dequn Chu, CEO of Meetall. The Sinus, with its 65-litre basket in an attractive, curved design, is a calling card for Meetall's discerning premium stores, and is a figurehead with a high level of recognition. Wanzl manufactured the elegant trolley at its parent plant in Germany and exported it to Shanxi.

When Meetall entered its own domestic market and opened its first store in 1997, Wanzl delivered shopping trolleys to the Chinese retailer for the first time. This first delivery also went from Germany to the Far East. And because Wanzl trolleys are such durable runners, some models from that first delivery are still rolling perfectly today for customers doing their daily shopping. In 2008, Meetall entered into a cooperation agreement with SPAR. The retailer grew rapidly and now operates around 150 stores of various sizes – ranging from large-scale supermarkets with a floor area of 10,000 m² to smaller, neighbourhood stores closer to consumers, with an area of 3,000 m², through to the high-quality premium stores. An important focus in the range is on fresh groceries. Meetall wants to become number one in this area in the Shanxi and Inner Mongolia regions. The fresh produce comes from local farms in Shanxi, Shandong, Hainan, Yunnan and Fujian. Meetall has invested heavily in the construction of storage centres, warehousing and logistics, in order to transport products to stores quickly and in a cost-effective way. The range of goods also includes a broad non-food range, such as furniture, clothing, as well as mother and baby items.

In all the years since that first delivery in 1997, Meetall has chosen Wanzl time and time again as its supplier of shopping trolleys and coin deposit systems. Around 2,900 trolleys are delivered on average every year, with a preference for models from the EL series, in a classic design and with no rusting of the base, in order to prevent inventory differences. "With Wanzl, above all, we appreciate the high product quality and professional service. They match our company principles perfectly", says Dequn Chu.

"We promote the professionalism of our staff. We reward excellent performance with capital shares in the company. That's why earnings are higher than in industry.”
