With effect from 17 January 2012, the Wanzl group has increased its holding in the Cari-All / Technibilt Group in North America to 100%. A minority holding in the Group had already been owned since mid-2006. After over five years of excellent co-operation, Wanzl has now decided to increase this share to 100%. By doing so, it has succeeded in bringing the largest and most successful shopping trolley manufacturer in North America under the umbrella of the Wanzl Group.
Cari-All / Technibilt
The Cari-All/Technibilt Group is a manufacturer that specialises in shopping trolley production. The Group manufactures its products predominantly in Newton, North Carolina (USA). The entire metal production process takes place here, including surface treatment and assembly for shopping trolleys. There is also plastic production in Montreal (Canada) for shopping trolley components (castors, etc.), as well as production for third-party customers on a small scale. The Group employs around 330 co-workers in Newton and Montreal.
Focus on US market
In terms of market cultivation, this is an excellent addition to the Wanzl Group, as the Cari-All/Technibilt Group is focussed on the North American market, where Wanzl has previously been of relatively low significance. 13 of the retail traders with the highest turnovers in the world are based in North America, which is why this market is extremely significant. The acquisition of Cari-All / Technibilt sets a great challenge for the Wanzl family business, but also a unique opportunity in terms of the Group's global presence. The two dominant shopping trolley manufacturers are now united under one roof.
