Wanzl joins the UN Global Compact sustainability initiative

Leipheim-based family-run company is committed to sustainable corporate governance

Wanzl GmbH & Co. Holding KG has joined the United Nations Global Compact. The world’s largest and most important initiative for sustainable and responsible corporate governance has officially confirmed the inclusion of the Leipheim-based manufacturer for retail, material handling and access solutions as well as airport and hotel services. By joining the UN Global Compact, Wanzl is now part of an alliance of more than 21,000 companies and organisations worldwide that have committed themselves to contributing to a sustainable economy through responsible business practices.

As a participant in the initiative, Wanzl is committed to implementing the ten principles of the UN Global Compact in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption in its business processes and corporate strategy and to reporting on its progress annually. The Leipheim-based company also reaffirms its willingness to take active measures to achieve the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"As a global company, Wanzl has a responsibility towards the environment and society. We face up to this responsibility, have already achieved a lot and have even more in mind. We are convinced that long-term economic success is only possible through long-term actions. Joining the UN Global Compact is therefore the logical next step and an incentive to further expand our sustainability activities," says Alexander Kienle, Chief Financial Officer at Wanzl.

"By joining the UN Global Compact, we want to underline our commitment as a company that engages with the welfare of the public. As a company with deep roots in Leipheim, we are responsible for the region and the people who live and work here. We are convinced that our participation in the UN Global Compact will help us to achieve our sustainability goals and have a positive impact on the environment and the community," stresses Bernhard Renzhofer, Chief Sales Officer at Wanzl.

"Wanzl is proud to be part of a global community of companies and organisations that are dedicated to a sustainable future and have a positive impact on the world. We look forward to working with other participants in the UN Global Compact and to working together towards a better future," says Professor Peter Ruhwedel, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Wanzl GmbH & Co. Holding KG.
