Revolutionary access –

Wanzl and neXenio usher in a new era of access systems

Imagine the following: you enter the foyer of your place of work. The entry system opens automatically, without checking a card or scanning hand veins, and immediately calls the elevator, which takes you directly to your floor. A fully prepared office awaits you there. Your PC has been booted up, the thermostat has been set to the perfect temperature, fresh coffee has been made – everything has been done, as if by magic. A dream of the future? How close we already are to this scenario can be seen with the Wanzl Galaxy Gate together with the visionary software of the start-up company from Berlin, neXenio. How we enter our place of work will change for ever.

neXenio researches and develops innovations in the field of digital security. A field that has become exponentially larger in recent years. In Berlin alone, some 100 companies generate just under 460 million euros annually. Forward-looking technology is required in order to be able to survive in such an industry. neXenio has developed a revolutionary software – made to measure for the Wanzl Galaxy Gate. "Accelerometers in smartphones and smart watches allow, for instance, people's walking style to be analysed. Consequently, the smartphone always knows whether it is in the possession of the owner or if it is being used by another person. A newly developed, highly secure communication system notifies the Galaxy Gate of who is requesting access. The Galaxy Gate then opens,” explains the founder of neXenio, Patrick Hennig. By analysing people’s walking style, signatures in the air or other gestures, the Galaxy Gate can grant employees contactless access. It is an access system which allows authorised persons unobstructed access whilst unauthorised entry is practically impossible. "Cards can be stolen, but exactly copying people’s behaviour cannot be done. We conducted tests in which we attempted to imitate the behaviour pattern of a person. To date, no one has managed to gain access without authorisation," assures Philipp Berger, CTO of neXenio. "In addition, sensor data is never exchanged. Neither the Galaxy Gate nor we ourselves can read users' profiles. All the data remains in the possession of the employee.” "A forward-looking technology that allows users and companies to enter a new era.

Security and convenience, the key features of the Galaxy Gate are taken to the next level with neXenio’s software. "The technology is a perfect fit for the Galaxy Gate: it is absolutely reliable and convenient to use," of that Andreas Fischer, Head of Sales for Wanzl Access Solutions is convinced. "We are pleased to join up with this extraordinarily exciting start-up company.” "The high safety and data protection standard of the software has already caught the attention of several major companies, including a large German telecommunications provider as well as a global real estate group that owns more than 200 well-known skyscrapers. Additional functions are also being tested, as the technology is intended to offer more than just access. "By connecting to the IoT (Internet of Things), the system will grant more than just access to the building. In the industrial sector, every machine will know who is currently operating it. The software can also be used in other areas. It can even be used as a personal coach for sports or detect if someone faints and automatically initiate an emergency call,” says Patrick Hennig. "We were looking for an innovative partner in order to be able to implement all our ideas, and have found such a partner with Wanzl. Like us, they are continuously looking for new ideas and solutions." Thanks to their collaboration, Wanzl and neXenio are opening the door to the future a little wider. And, who knows how long it will be before people are greeted by a perfectly prepared workplace – as if by magic.
