As the innovation leader of international commerce, Wanzl is showcasing the highlights of the stores of tomorrow at EuroShop 2011, the leading trade show for global commerce: with new creativity and strong partnerships under the philosophy "strong partnerships_made by Wanzl". Wanzl will be presenting its products at two trade fair stands for the first time at EuroShop: self-service systems from Wanzl can be found in hall 13, shopfitting solutions in hall 12. Displays can be viewed at the joint POPAI stand in Hall 5.

Smart shopping

At the self-service systems stand in Hall 13, Wanzl is showcasing the shopping world of tomorrow with smart shopping: the enhanced vision of future shopping, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The focus of the smart shopping concept is the plastic shopping trolley M3EA, jointly developed by the METRO GROUP Future Store Initiative and Wanzl. The trolley, equipped with plastic GT26 shopping baskets, enables the pre-sorting of goods, combined with flexible, time-saving purchasing at the checkout through the identification of RFID good labels in the scan tunnel. In a matter of seconds, the latest UHF antennae can register hundreds of items in the new M3EA shopping trolley without needing to lay the goods on the conveyor belt and then put them back into the shopping basket. This makes long queues a thing of the past. All of the data ascertained in the scan tunnel is automatically transmitted via a LAN connection to the pay tower, which subsequently prints out a receipt after the purchase has been completed by card. Following payment, the exit gate directly linked to the pay tower opens automatically for a default period of time, so that the customer can pass through the checkout. Finally, the shopping baskets can be placed directly in the boot of a vehicle. The “smart shopping” concept also includes integrated shelves equipped with UHF read antennae for automatically registering the flow of goods: when a customer removes an item from a shelf, the removal is automatically registered and immediately forwarded to the merchandise planning and control system so that the inventory can be updated. The use-by dates of the items can also be checked using UHF.

Shopping worlds by Wanzl

The five trade-specific shopping worlds revealed by Wanzl at EuroShop are highly topical: premium shopping, beauty shopping, speed shopping, lifestyle shopping and heavy duty shopping. This is because the general trend in the retail market is clearly moving in the direction of higher quality and individualisation. For each of the five shopping worlds, Wanzl is offering a shop tour with the relevant products – from shopping trolleys with accessories such as coin deposit systems and magnifying glasses through to display solutions, entrance systems and checkout barriers. Wanzl has solutions for every market – ranging from establishments with a sophisticated ambience and the personal care, health and cosmetic arena through to discounters, lifestyle and DIY.
