Optimising processes, making workflows more efficient, relieving employees: as a solution provider with consulting, development and manufacturing expertise from a single source, Wanzl Logistics + Industry stands for smooth intralogistics. The optimisation potential is often in the detail. Wanzl will present another building block of its “Dynamic Material Handling” concept alongside internal logistics process solutions, at the LogiMAT trade fair in Stuttgart in Hall 1, Stand G01+02.
"Dynamic Material Handling” – the dynamic order picking system
The fundamental principle of Dynamic Material Handling is individual optimisation. Customers are supported from the very first step, right from the initial on-site consultation and development of specific solutions, to product manufacture and the concrete implementation of the optimisation approaches identified. Automated warehouses, specially developed order picking trolleys and transport robots from MiR Mobile Industrial Robots are important components of the dynamic order picking system according to the goods-to-person principle. This eliminates the need for time-consuming and tiring walking routes, increases order picking performance and improves ergonomics for employees.
An additional detail in the overall concept of Dynamic Material Handling now increases efficiency: the smart ProGlove MARK work glove. Thanks to the barcode scanner integrated on the back of the glove, the worker works freehand, making it more convenient, faster and more ergonomic. The glove contains a textile trigger that initiates the scan function when pressed. Acoustic, haptic and visual signals provide feedback on the process steps. All the common 1D and 2D barcodes are scanned and a rechargeable battery is sufficient for a shift lasting eight to ten hours. Inconspicuous access points establish the wireless connection to the scanner. For this purpose, the small receiver box is simply connected to a PC or tablet via Plug & Play and ensures radio transmission within a radius of up to 30 metres. Intuitive software allows easy configuration of the scanner module.
In addition, Wanzl offers a special service with Proof of Concept (PoC). Interested customers can test the smart glove. The preparation takes two to three weeks, the test run lasts about four weeks. During this time, Wanzl assists its customers in determining the parties involved and the area of application, in implementing the system and, of course, in evaluating and analysing the results. If the glove has proven its worth, Wanzl can also plan a full roll-out to the entire company on request. After all, meeting specific customer requirements is one of the great strengths of Dynamic Material Handling. There is therefore no need to completely convert existing systems, because it’s possible to upgrade step by step. If the order volume increases over time, the system can even be expanded during ongoing operations, to include additional modules. Trade fair visitors to the AIT Goehner stand (Hall 4 / Stand F14) will be able to see another future-oriented module in the overall concept of Dynamic Material Handling. The AIT scan tunnel is already a key element of Wanzl's innovative and automated checkout system for operating a 24-hour shop. In intralogistics, the tunnel can be used for separating and documenting goods at incoming goods or as a control for order picking. Markus Spengler, business unit manager at Wanzl Logistics + Industry, explains: "For us, perfecting details means constantly optimising both our customers' systems and our own concepts. The scan tunnel by AIT Goehner is an interesting option, as it can be used in a wide variety of industries thanks to individually modifiable interfaces, software and user interfaces."
KT3-X order picking trolley – customised for more effective order picking
No two storage areas are the same, and every industry has its own requirements. If you are looking for the ideal order picking trolley solution for your business, the KT3-X is the answer. Tailored precisely to suit specific customer wishes thanks to its customisable exterior dimensions in extremely small grid units and an extensive range of accessories, it perfects order picking as an important link in the supply chain. Furthermore, this applies to every single trolley, because customised, made-to-measure production is available for order quantities of just one unit. The basic model impresses with its extremely robust base frame and Wanzl quality swivel castors with rubber treads. The handle, grid shelves, forklift loops for transport by forklift and pallet truck and a 5th castor for 360° rotation on the spot are just a few of the extras available for adapting the KT3-X to your specific application.
RC/N3 roll containers – optimised transport, space-saving warehousing
Wanzl’s well-proven, robust RC/N3 roll containers are a reliable aid for daily goods transport. They are optimised for transporting European standard crates or for use with the loading areas of most truck trailers. An integrated foot-operated rail to aid movement over steps and sills, and a practical wire shelf, are included as standard. It is precisely when they are not in use that the space-saving properties of these roll containers come to the fore: folding shelves and sides mean that they can be nested for compact storage.
Lithium-ion batteries – longer-lasting mobile electricity
A wide range of applications, increased control, improved ergonomics – Wanzl’s new lithium ion batteries offer a portable power supply for trolleys and peripheral equipment, and therefore make the workplace mobile. The proven water spray protection, which qualifies for IP54 enclosure rating for battery packs, connecting cables and charging units, is also a highly practical feature. The optional Wanzl SOC Indicator guarantees real-time capacity monitoring and can be mounted directly on the battery or on the exterior, depending on your preference. In addition, with a reduction in weight of up to 25% compared with its predecessor, the battery is much easier to handle.
