“Dynamic Material Handling” – system-based dynamic order picking

For the first time, the logistics experts at Wanzl are offering a complex order picking system based on the goods-to-person principle, and it’s called “Dynamic Material Handling”. The core of this is formed by automatic order picker warehouses, which can be custom-configured to meet customers’ individual needs. They contain entire storage units of various kinds, which are available on an on-call basis. As required, the units can be deployed to the ergonomic delivery gate, where the order picker removes the desired quantity before requesting the next item. Once an order is complete, an automated robot (Automated Guided Vehicle – AGV) transports the order picking trolley to the desired area. The benefits of this principle are obvious: time-consuming, tiring walking to and fro is no longer necessary, so order picking performance is enhanced, employee capacity freed up for other tasks, and ergonomics for workers considerably improved. In addition, there’s no need to completely convert existing systems, because it’s possible to upgrade by increments. The Twister V-350 vertical carousel storage system, as well as an AGV, can be seen live at the LogiMAT trade fair.
