EuroShop – wanzl connect offers optimum performance

Emotional shopping worlds – shopfitting boxes are a magnet for visitors

Now that EuroShop 2017 is over, it’s really time to get started: ranking among the largest exhibitors and system partners for international retail at the event with a stand area covering 1,400 square meters, Wanzl reflects on a positive experience. “We had the opportunity to greet all the major international retailers at our stand; our new products really resonated with people,” comments Bernhard Renzhofer, Director of Marketing at Wanzl, expressing his satisfaction with the company’s experience at the trade fair.

wanzl connect for brick-and-mortar retail

Under the #uptrade motto adopted by the company for the trade fair, visitors were presented with a wealth of ideas and innovations offering true added value for physical stores, and making it possible for them to remain competitive in the age of e-commerce, retaining existing customers and winning new ones. The wanzl connect software-based solution was the focus of much interest: “In these times of e-commerce and digital shopping, brick-and-mortar retailers are looking for new approaches and seeking to achieve data acquisition that places them on an equal footing with online players. This is precisely what wanzl connect delivers. We are confident that it is the right platform to lead brick-and-mortar retail into the future,” explains Dr. Klaus Meier-Kortwig, Chairman of the Wanzl Management Board. wanzl connect controls all processes in the store and collects useful customer data, supported by the Smart Trolley with RFID, enabling retailers to make their customers’ shopping experience as comfortable as possible , and to manage their stores economically, right down to the finest detail. Other world firsts by Wanzl which were presented at the event are the Salsa plastic shopping trolley, and the shopping trolley configurator, which allows users to customise any individual model of trolley in considerable detail.

Creative ideas for unique shopping experiences

Wanzl’s emotional shopfitting boxes at the trade fair attracted visitors from Germany and beyond. The Leipheim-based company used this product to highlight the advantages of bricks-and-mortar stores when it comes to store appearance and product presentation. A Viking ship was used as an unusual backdrop for the company’s exclusive shopfitting solutions, which always showcase products to perfection. The pure tech design shelf, with its slim, almost transparent upright and high load capacity, was presented for the first time at the trade fair and made for a stylish new addition. The craft beer and wine shop created for the event using combinations from the wire tech and vino tech systems, had all the appearance of an attractive revenue driver, presented in an edgy, industrial style. The Wanzl display area also contained YourTable, YourTable Cool and BakeOff 3.0 variable presentation modules, showcased as profitable islands for the presentation of luxury goods and high-margin fresh produce for cross-selling and convenience. What makes a candy shop unique; how workwear and design work together; what inspiration the think tank is providing with its 3D simulation worlds – these topics, too, were only addressed live at the Wanzl stand.

Latest investment in Scandinavia

EuroShop provided Wanzl with an international platform to share the news about its latest investment: Expedit, the Danish retail and shopfitting specialist, became part of the Wanzl Group in 2017 after the corporate group obtained a majority stake in the company. The company has held a stake in the Danish firm, based in Hadsten and employing 400 people, since 1988. Expedit supplies retail stores in Scandinavia and the Baltic region, and represents a true asset with an excellent name. This latest investment marks a further milestone on Wanzl’s Concept 2020 roadmap. “In three years, we want to be the world’s best-known outfitter for food and near-food retailers, from shopping trolleys and shopfitting to logistical solutions. For Wanzl, the next logical and strategic step was therefore to acquire additional shares in Expedit. Following the acquisition, we will now continue along the path we have successfully forged for the Wanzl Group,” says Gottfried Wanzl, Chairman of the Supervisory Board for Wanzl GmbH & Co. Holding KG, offering a clear explanation of the company’s goals.
