Electroplating with active sustainability
Wanzl is one of the biggest electroplating businesses in Europe and is regarded as an environmental pioneer in surface coating. The electroplating technology used includes a three-stage chrome plating process – to protect people and the environment.
Our electroplating plant in Leipheim is exemplary and meets strict requirements in terms of sustainability. The exhaust air is thoroughly cleaned down to the smallest particle using wet scrubbers and droplet separators. The high air turnover ensures a good indoor climate.
Environmentally-friendly hall heating is achieved by using exhaust air heat, potentially saving three million kilowatt-hours of energy. In comparison: this regenerative use of energy from waste heat corresponds to a gas volume of 270,000 cubic metres or 300,000 litres of heating oil. The CO2 reduction compared to fossil energy use is over 500 tonnes or more than 770 tonnes of CO2.
